The king's dream on the Elbe
Glückstadt, set right on the Elbe, combines maritime atmosphere, historic architecture and northern German charm. Founded in 1617 by King Christian IV, the town delights with its lovingly restored old town, picturesque harbour and numerous cosy cafés and restaurants.
